Many patients need total-body irradiation to completely remove their cancer cells. However, such treatments are often harmful. Work completed in collaboration with Duke University (Supported by NIH) showed that survival of animals after such irradiation can drop to 5%. However, after treatment with Fibrinoplate-S, the survival rate improves to 60%. This product should be helpful for radiation therapy patients or even in the event of a nuclear accident.
Radiation therapy is aimed at killing cancer cells with the minimal harm to the patient. Even so, many patients cannot tolerate it and will develop skin ulcerations. The Company Product called Fibrinoplate-S is able to accelerate healing by mobilizing stem cells to the wound and by repairing damaged blood vessels beneath the wound so that multiple issues around the wound can receive nutrients and recover quickly. Work was funded by two NIH grants.
Bone fracture is a major cause of inconvenience and morbidity in
people of all ages, but particularly old folks. NIH grant supported work showed that in old-animal
models, the administration of our product can accelerated bone healing, proven with mechanical testing
in University of California, Los Angels and the histological evidence of increased stem cells at the wound
in the treated groups.
